DUTIES:
This position functions as a central point of public contact for the Administration and Planning & Development Departments. Primary duties include cashiering and handling funds associated with building permits, occupational tax permits, tracking and managing the permitting, zoning, and development processes, fielding and routing telephone calls, emails, and inquiries from the public, and data processing. Work is performed independently under the general supervision of the Director of Planning and Development:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or equivalent. Three (3) years government experience working as an administrative assistant, customer service rep, or office manager for a local municipal government or similar public agency; or comparable private sector employer. Experience must include records management and good working knowledge of MS Office Suite applications, especially Excel and Word, and overall proficient computer skills. Outstanding customer service skills are a must.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

Two (2) years of experience working as a permit clerk, administrative assistant, customer service rep, or office manager for a planning and zoning or community development department or similar agency; or comparable private sector employer.

FULL TIME PROGRAM COORDINATOR – PARKS & RECREATION

Starting Salary:   $20.24 Hour

DUTIES:
This is a professional and administrative role overseeing, monitoring and executing every aspect of Snellville Parks & Recreation programs/facilities (Active Adults, Athletics-Youth/Adult, Athletics/Special Events, and Programs/Facilities) which may include athletic leagues, classes, general programming, department special events, etc. Duties can also include overseeing various groups, or individuals in renting park facilities in the City of Snellville.  Incumbent will organize and facilitate various department sponsored athletic events, general programs and special events.  General direction is provided by the Deputy Director in organizing and coordinating the scheduling of various facility rentals, athletic leagues, special classes and events while incumbent exercises discretionary judgment in implementing all leagues and rentals based on established policies and procedures. Incumbent will supervise part-time employees or volunteer staff in designated program areas.  Schedule will include evening and weekend shifts.  


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Management or related field from an accredited college or university.  At least two (2) years’ experience in performing duties related to recreational programming and general park operations.  Any equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable. Must possess a valid Georgia driver’s license (Class C) at time of employment. Red Cross certifications in First Aid and CPR or ability to get certification within 6 months of hire.  Professional certification through the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association, National Recreation & Parks Association and/or National Alliance for Youth Sports is preferred.

DUTIES:
This is a highly responsible role assisting with the management of the City of Snellville’s park operations and maintenance.  This role also plans, organizes, and manages the operations and programs of all City parks; supervises staff directly and through subordinates; and performs related duties as required. Duties include serving as liaison with the community for special events and representing the Department before various boards, clubs, organizations as needed.  Work is performed under the general direction of the Director of Parks & Recreation.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Management or related field from an accredited college or university.  Extensive experience (at least 5 years) in progressively responsible supervisory positions in recreation and parks management.  Any equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable. Red Cross certifications in First Aid and CPR preferred and required to be completed within 6 months of hiring.  Professional certification through the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association and/or National Recreation & Parks Association preferred.

Maintenance Technician I

Duties  

This is semi-skilled manual work in maintaining the City's right-of-ways, grounds, streets, curb and gutter, and storm water systems.  Work can involve heavy manual tasks that may require the use of power tools and operation of light to heavy equipment.  Majority of work is performed outside.  Must be able to respond to service needs within a 30 to 45 minute response time during evenings and on weekends. Assignments will be carried out under the direct supervision of the Public Works Maintenance Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates with a minimum of one (1) year of experience in a Public Works Department or other related field preferred.  Any equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable.  Qualified applicants will have the ability to work in a variety of weather conditions for extended periods of time.  They also will possess the ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 100 lbs.) and bend, squat, twist, crawl and climb on a daily basis. Incumbents must be able to operate assigned equipment in a safe and efficient manner and possess a valid Georgia Driver's license with a good motor vehicle record.  Must enjoy teamwork.

DUTIES:

This is general law enforcement work responsible for protecting life and property and enforcing laws and ordinances.  Work involves routine patrol in assigned area, responding to emergency calls, alarms and citizen complaints.  Duties include traffic enforcement, assignments, preliminary investigations and other related work.  An officer of higher ranks reviews work assignments.  Work requires independent judgment and discretion in difficult or unusual situations.  Work involves an element of personal danger.  Work is performed under the general supervision of a police Corporal.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older,
  • High School diploma or equivalent, and
  • Possess a valid Georgia Driver’s License.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
