In an effort to meet Federal and State guidelines, to comply with environmental regulations and preserve natural resources, and to reduce waste and keep costs at a minimum, the City of Snellville encourages all of its citizens to be "waste conscious," to make a sincere effort to reduce the amount of waste they generate, and to practice reuse and recycle whenever possible. We are a franchised City which means all solid waste services must go through our Public Works Department. This includes commercial services and residential services.

Residential Household Garbage
The City of Snellville is a volume-based service. This service provides each household with one (1) 95-gallon wheeled garbage cart. Household garbage is picked up once weekly at the curb. Your cart must be at the curb by 6:00am on your service day. The hauler will not return if you fail to have your trash cart out by 6:00am.
ALL garbage must be in tied durable plastic garbage bags and all garbage bags must fit INSIDE your cart with the lid closed flat. Overloading your cart with too many bags will potentially scatter trash when the mechanical arm lifts your cart. Therefore, overloaded carts will not be serviced to prevent spilling trash on the ground. Please make sure carts are 3-5 feet away from mailboxes and vehicles to allow space for the truck's mechanical arms to operate safely.
Residential Bulk Item Pickup
You must call the Public Works Department at 770-985-3527, Monday - Thursday, 7:00am to 5:30pm to schedule a curbside bulk item pickup. Bulk items consist of furniture, mattresses, washers, dryers, etc. and are limited to two (2) items per week per household and are collected on your regular service day. Bulk items must be at the curb by 6:00am on your service day to ensure collection. Snellville Blue bags are no longer required for bulk pickups.
Residential Yard Waste Pickup

Yard waste is limited to six (6) bags per pickup per household. Larger limbs and branches must be bound in 4-foot lengths and be no larger than 6 inches in diameter and must have a yard waste bag attached to ensure collection.
